FAQ
If your organization has enabled two-factor authentication (2FA) with a time-based one-time password (TOTP) to protect your Oodrive account, you can use the Oodrive Authenticator app to authenticate.
If you do not have 2FA enabled on your account, contact your administrator.
A TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) code is a unique password generated from a secret key shared between you and the service you are logging into. This code typically changes every 30 seconds, ensuring more secure two-factor authentication.
To add a code to Oodrive Authenticator, open the app and select + New Code. Scan the QR code supplied by the service, or manually enter the secret key. A TOTP code is automatically generated for this account.
The QR code (or secret key) is displayed only during the first login via two-factor authentication. Following this initial login, the QR code (or key) will never be shown again, which is why it is important to save your codes. If you lose your codes, contact the helpline for the service you are trying to log into.
Oodrive Authenticator supports TOTP codes of the following type:
OTP type: TOTP
Hash algorithm: SHA-1, SHA-256 or SHA-512
Time interval: 30 or 60 seconds
Code length: 6 or 8 characters
If the OTP code you are trying to scan uses a different algorithm or configuration, the application may not support it.
Once you have entered your username and password, you will be asked for a temporary TOTP code. This code may be generated by Oodrive Authenticator or by any other TOTP authentication app you have configured for this account. Enter the one-time password displayed in the app, then confirm before it expires. If the code matches the one expected by the service, you will be connected.
TOTP codes are time sensitive. Make sure your device’s time is correct and synchronized with a time server. If the problem persists, check you are using the right code (without spaces), and that you have correctly entered the secret key.
Yes, but each device must be configured separately with the same secret key. Scan the same QR code or manually enter the key on each device. However, having the same codes on multiple devices increases the risk of compromise. If one of the devices is lost, stolen or hacked, an attacker could access your TOTP codes, and therefore your accounts.
When you access Oodrive Authenticator, the app prompts you to set up a lock mode on your device for better protection of your sensitive data. This additional security helps protect you against fraudulent access by a third party with access to your device.
It is a good idea to save the secret key used to generate each TOTP in a secure location, such as a password manager. This will enable you to restore your accounts on another device if your phone is lost or replaced.
If you lose access to your device and secret keys, you will no longer be able to generate the TOTP codes needed to log in to your accounts. If no recovery solution is possible, contact technical support for the service in question. They will be able to help you regain access to your account after verifying your identity.
Yes, an Internet connection is not required to generate TOTP codes, as they are generated locally on your device using the current time and the secret key.
To remove a code from the application, long-press the code, then confirm removal.
Warning: removing a code from the application will not disable two-factor authentication for the account! To avoid being locked out, make sure that two-factor authentication is disabled for this account, or that you have another app to generate codes or some other recovery solution at your disposal.
